Walking the dog

So you know how I like random things and this one really appealed to me as I think while walking the dogs over the past week I’ve managed to commit many a faux pas (flashing my knickers while picking up poo, getting tangled up with complete strangers, etc etc). This one features actor Zach Quinto and although the focus seems to be on the fact that he falls over, for me it’s all about the fact that he is accompanied by a giant chop and butcher. WTF?

So it seems to have taken me a week to get into action and put up these pictures from last weekend when Boston and Lincoln were introduced to Krug and Shobi – and the enormous garden at my parents (remember everything is relative, they are only a few centimetres tall!).

So after a couple of days of running around, talking to dogs/people and discovering long grass, streams and big holes, they were absolutely exhausted.

And so was Norman. But not from the same things. No, Mr Campbell decided that on the hottest day of the year to have an unofficial red-wine-drinking competition with my dad. Needless to say, it didn’t end well. But the next day was entertaining for anyone else when I showed him the picture of him passed out, snuggling up to my dad on the sofa…

You might say that I’m getting lazy by not letting on what we’re up to at the moment but actually I’m just trying to get ready to go the ballet with my mum (I know, get me) so instead I’m linking to this as it just made me laugh so hard that my abs hurt. Cassetteboy has made the best piss-take of Sir Alan Sugar – I particularly liked the sparkly pants part – but be warned that it’s NSFW.

Friday treat

As it’s Friday and I haven’t got round to uploading any pictures of what’s been happening in our house recently, I thought I would share this fake Duffy coke advert with you. For those of you who still have your hearing functioning, it’s a take on a diet coke ad which runs over here with the singer Duffy. Personally I can’t stand her – she sounds like a gerbil in a food processor – and I’m not really sure why coke decided to use her to promote its drink as she’s not really that aspirational. Still this spoof brought out the LOLs.

Welcome Mr Stones

So this weekend we welcomed a new face into the house. Stones has moved in with us on a temporary basis. This meant that he and Norms needed to go and celebrate in a truly Zimbabwean fashion by getting completely s*** faced in a short pub crawl. I guess we could see it as their contribution to the local economy. Although they both did look pretty pale faced the next morning, especially as they woke Lincs and Bost up on the way to bed so Norms ended up throwing them into bed with Stones. Apparently they also met a 7’1″ man in the pub and thankfully Norms didn’t pick a fight with him so they came home in one piece.

This picture was taken the next day (Sunday) after much football watching – accompanied by the compulsory beers – and after dinner. I think it’s safe to say that these two look pretty satisfied and that Stones’ move has been well received by all.

New additions

So we’ve been offline for a while. Well I can explain. Yes sir, the cat didn’t eat my homework but my two puppies have been trying to chew everything in sight!

So it happened: we got two little miniature daschunds, Lincoln and Boston. Yes I know what you’re thinking – what American names and why as neither of you reside in the US or are ‘Made in the USA’. No nothing to do with the US I’m afraid but all to do with sausages. You see Lincolnshire sausages are one of Norman’s favourite and while we were going to call the other one Toulouse, everyone seemed to think that was a little effeminate. And we didn’t want the guy to be teased at school so we discovered another sausage called Boston (much more manly I think you’ll agree) and we decided to go with that. So there we have it. The new additions to the Ferguson family are Lincoln and Boston. And yes my mum has been treating them like grandkids (skyping them, bringing them presents, etc).

So lovely Sazzle will leave us this week – we are going to be so sad without her! She’s such a lovely bubbly person that you can’t help but fall in love with her when you meet her. We’re going to be very sad for the three months that the British government have banned her from re-applying for her visa. It’s not like she wasn’t paying taxes people! But when she comes back, we’ll have to have a mother of a party to celebrate!

In other news, Norman has spent the morning building a snowman as we’re all snowed under here. I’ll post a picture as soon as my phone decides to get its act together. It’s been quite fun watching everyone having snowmen and snowball contests although I’m sure that most parents will be glad to be inside and not pulling their child along in the snow by this evening! Think it’s time for a nice glass of red wine by the fire in the pub…

Farewell to the outpost of our childhood

We spent a lovely New Year’s eve in France at the Chateau. My parents brought together some of their nearest and dearest to spend a last New Year bash there and to send it on to pastures new in true Ferguson style. So that meant a delicious meal by Rodolfe and some seriously free-flowing wine. Or should that read free-flowing serious wine?

Unlike the last party (for my mum’s 60th last year) in France, Norman managed not to pass out at the table and, in fact, managed to stay awake for most of the night. There were many walking-wounded the next day, but that didn’t prevent us from starting it all over again – actually it lasted for several days after that!

You can find some pictures of what we got up to including a wonderful one of Norman and Ricky – he’ll never live this one down – engaged in a ‘passionate embrace’. Ah the totally metropolitan Norman, I bet you never thought you’d see this one: maybe I should hide my make-up or he’ll be at that next.

We have some wonderful memories from the Chateau where we have spent many a holiday since yonks ago. We used to visit every holiday in fact during school and this tradition has slowly petered out as we’ve all branched out to various other destinations and of course we can all blame Meyrick for setting up shop in the US (only joking big bro). So it seems unlikely that we’ll have such a big bash here again as we are now putting it on the market to give someone else the chance to have some equally brilliant experiences here.

In much the same way as we have grown over the same period, the Chateau and its grounds have changed too. Originally a main house with some dilapidated storehouses, it has developed into a complex within itself with four self-contained outbuildings, a swimming pool and a muli-acre park. I think we’ll all miss it immensely but look forward to spending many a great holiday in the US with our lovely nieces.

So happy New Year to you all and I hope that this year will bring prosperity in every shape and form.

Christmas Bellies

Merry Christmas everyone! You can see what we got up to – including Shobi in all his festive attire – at the flickr link. I’m sure (or hope) we’re all in the same situation: too much food and wine but a lot of fun. The best thing was my granny trying to figure out how Skype works on Christmas day while my niece played her electric guitar to rapturous applause. It was great to have Norman’s sister share this holiday with us.

Now we’re off to walk off the excess in time for New Year.
